Day 1: Arrival in Alma Vii / Richis

Transfer to Alma Vii . It is a hidden and charming village recently added on the tourist circuit . It's church has recently been restored and our overnight stay will be in a guesthouse owned by a German couple who has fallen in love with the beauty of the Transylvanian countryside .

Day 2: Alma Vii - Malancrav, 40 km

After breakfast we will have a short bike assembly session and head towards Biertan . The terraces on the surrounding valleys wear the steps of a great wine culture. In Biertan we will visit the fortified church . It is the first church protected by UNESCO in Romania . Leaving Biertan and Copsa Mare , our race continues through pleasant plains and a beautiful forest . Our last village is Malancrav , and it's fortified church has the best preserved frescoes of Transylvania . Here lives the largest Saxon community of Transylvania . Lunch - Picnic in the Valchid area or in Nou Sasesc

Day 3: Malancrav - Sighisoara, 38 km

We will start the day by visiting a family of master Gypsy artisans in the weaving of baskets . The first route of today is towards Floresti , from which we will continue through a bucolic valley up to Cris , home of the Bethlen castle , one of the most beautiful Renaissance castles of Transylvania . Today we will do a couple of climbs and descents, but focusing on the beautiful landscapes. we will arrive at the Breite Reserve of ancient oaks where we will take a spectacular tour among the ancient oaks . Afterwards we will descend towards Sighisoara , our destination, which is considered to be one of the fortified most beautiful and best preserved towns of Europe , and a world's heritage site of UNESCO . Lunch - Pincic in Floreşti or in Cris / Stejarenii

Day 4: Sighisoara - Criţ, 42 km

We will start our day with a short guided tour in the city of Sighisoara . We will pedal on the asphalt until we have reached a bicycle path . This has only existed for a few years and offers a fascinating route through meadows and woods up to Viscri . In Saschiz we will serve our lunch with Anca and Charlie, a Romanian-French couple. After lunch we will cycle back to the trail and continue in the forest up to Crit.

Day 5 : Criţ - Viscri 20 km

After breakfast we will cycle on the asphalt to Meschendorf . Above the village there is a sheepfold . It's worth making a short stop to observe the daily life of a shepherd . The last section of Viscri is extremely beautiful and panoramic . We will make a fantastic descent towards the village on the meadow with a splendid view and admire the fortified church , the most representative of Romania , also a heritage of UNESCO . After lunch, we will visit the church , then take a 30 km optional bike tour.

Day 6 : Return to civilization

Depending on the departure time and the airport , we can visit Salina Turda (ticket not included), a breathtaking salt mine . If we leave from Cluj Napoca there is a chance to visit it, take some time to explore this unofficial capital of Transylvania which shares both Romanian and Hungarian traditions.
